Claude "Card Not Supported For This Purchase" Fix
Your bank accepted the connection and then refused this particular transaction category. It is almost always one of two categories: recurring subscription billing, or cross-border digital goods. The card works fine in shops; it is this class of charge it will not do.
Try these first — they are free
- Look for a 'recurring payments' or 'international e-commerce' toggle in your banking app and enable it.
- Try a credit card from the same bank — the category block is usually applied to debit and prepaid products only.
- Call the bank and ask them to whitelist recurring international merchants; some will do it per-merchant.
If one of those works, stop here and pay Anthropic directly. It is cheaper than buying through us and we would rather tell you that than sell you something you do not need.
Why those usually don't work
Many banks apply this category block at the product level and have no mechanism to lift it for one merchant. Support will tell you to use a different card — which is exactly the problem you started with.
The route that does work: an official gift code
A gift subscription removes the card from the equation entirely. Someone buys the subscription from Anthropic and gets a redemption code; you enter that code on your own account. There is no card to be declined, no region check on a payment method, and no recurring authorisation for your bank to refuse next month.

Yes. We buy a genuine gift subscription from Anthropic at claude.ai/gift, at full list price, and send you the redemption code. You redeem it on your own Anthropic account. It is the same subscription you would get paying Anthropic directly — we are only the payment step.

How fast is delivery?
